was a great discovery last year when I read The Familiars so, I’d course, I preordered The Foundling and was dying to read it...and read it in less than 24h!
This is a beautifully written historical fiction with powerful characters full of depth and a mystery to solve. The author yet again manages to give female characters a strong personality that defies conventions and allows them to pursue and defend that which they’re most passionate about. The characters are complete opposites with back stories that are slowly revealed at the right moments and that are perfectly woven into the narrative, hooking the reader into it over and over again.
While I personally think the ending was a bit much, it did serve to nicely wrap up the story.
All in all, if you enjoyed The Familiars or like historical fiction or books with strong female leads, you need to pick this one up!
