The Foundling
How vividly the author writes of this young girls poverty and yet great love and desperation for her newborn baby daughter Clara she doesn’t have any alternative than taking her baby daughter to the Foundling hospital as she describes she cannot “sell shrimps with a child that is larger than a loaf of bread”
The detailed description of the opulent surroundings of the reception rooms in the hospital and the way the author describes the benefactors gives you a vivid picture into a very different world It makes you feel a great emotion as the lottery begins as to wether her baby will get a place it takes her 3 attempts to be happy with her choice of ball to seal her babies destiny
Can’t wait to read the rest of the book
