Captivating
After reading The Familiars, I wanted to read Stacey's next book, and thanks to Reader's First, I was given a copy.
Set in London 1754, The Foundling tells the story of Bess, an unmarried mother, who has to put her daughter Clara into The Foundling Hospital, leaving with her, a token, so they she can reclaim her.
Imagine her horror when six years later, she returns only to find her daughter Clara gone, taken by someone claiming to be her.
Taking a job as a nursemaid to a widow, she can't believe her eyes, for the widow's daughter is the image of herself.
Once again Stacey has written a book that will enchant her readers, and have them rooting for Bess and the return of her daughter. A real page turner. Loved it
