Just delectable! After enjoying 'The Familiars' I am just one of thousands awaiting the next release. Halls has a beautiful, emersive authorial voice and really draws you into Georgian London and creates intense emotion. Personally, I don't often read historical fiction but Halls is one of those authors that just takes your breath away and creates whimsy with every word.
Gripping from the first page, Halls writes an intriguing world of confusion, despair, hope and mystery. I can't wait for her next work already, as I have yet to give anything but 5 stars to this brilliant author! Bess is a powerful, moving character and from the get go there are so many questions and puzzles that twist and turn, absolutely masterful.
