I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and I loved that it was based on a real institution. People really did leave there kids with a scrap of a dress, or a letter. I also liked hearing about the streets of London back in the day. I visited the foundling institute in London that I am pretty sure this book was based on and all the stories were so intreating and complex.
I would recommend it to other people who enjoy historical fiction. I would say for me I could have done with a bit more plot and some more character development. I did like the main character as she was strong willed and got on with it.
I also read the familiars by the same author and I think that plot was stronger and more thought out. That being said if you really enjoyed that book I would give this one a chance.
