This book looks really interesting as it is set in the 1800’s and I can only imagine how hard it was for the poor unfortunate young mothers of that time. I already feel some empathy for the main character and wonder how her life will go after this. Having read the plot information I am very interested to read the rest of the book. The chapter we have reviewed is well written and descriptive and so allows the reader to imagine themselves in the shoes of Bessie and to want to know what happens to her and also the fate of Clara, who of course will no longer go by that name. Hard to imagine life for these people, and I think Bessie actually has it easier than some others of the times. Great start to what looks a really promising read.
