I have thoroughly enjoyed both books I have read written by this author! The Foundling is full of gritty characters from both classes of people of that time. The author’s description of the locality, living quarters and different types of employment up to the clothing worn is excellent. Deception of different levels abound! From the beginning this book grabbed me and I learned of a world unknown to me. The way of life lived during this period became more interesting to me with each new chapter. Wonderful story with characters to be remembered. The unfolding of tragic, sad pasts all lead to an ending that left me quite satisfied. This book, as well as her first book “The Familiars”, are hopefully the beginning of many written by Stacey Halls. Highly recommend !
