This is a really nice read. Set in the 18th century the story is written from the viewpoints of two women who have led very different lives. The main character Bess was forced to leave her baby daughter at the Foundlings children home. The story follows her efforts to be reunited with her daughter. Even though the story is set in the distant past you can easily relate to the characters. The book is easy to read and very interesting. It makes you care about both of the main characters as well as the supporting characters. Reading this helped take my mind off other things and I really enjoyed it. It has made me interested to learn more about the real London Foundling Hospital. I am keen to read more from this author!
