Dramatic wartime setting and hints of past secrets

I thought the opening scene set during an air-raid was dramatic and convincingly portrayed what the people of London experienced during the blitz whilst still trying to carry on their daily lives. I liked the hint of a secret in the family's past and could sympathize with her desire to make a new start in a different place. She certainly deserves someone with more backbone than Theo anyway!

Personally I like my historical fiction with plenty of period detail so I am wondering if this going to have too much of a romance element for me. I don't mind romance in a story so long as it's believable and not too sentimental.
