It has been some time since i’ve Read such a sweet book. April has had a horrid initial start in life, losing her family and many people she loves. She goes in search of her mother’s family and the story unfolds.

The authour creates speed and emotion by making us wait with the characters for letters from loved one out in war. It reminds us of how different things were in our relatively recent history and reminds us why that generation of people had a deep seated patience that we no longer seem to have.

The story twists and turns as April makes new friends in Cornwall and the community around her builds. She helps save a young infant when a grenade hits the hospital and her tenderness and kindness is brought through in the description.

Some would say this book is sickly sweet and girly, perhaps it is both, but it’s also just lovely that in the darkness of war love and hope find a way. If you want as escape from reality, this is the book for you.

I was kindly provided with a copy of GI Bride by readers first in exchange for an honest review.
