I really really enjoyed this book, and its totally not the type of book I usually read.
Set in WW2 initially in London but then moving down to Cornwall, it follows the journey of nurse April who after her father's death in an air raid moves to Cornwall to try and find family. Although her family are no longer there, she lives with a lovely landlady and works hard in the local hospital. Life is busy, but when a handsome American GI comes into her life, it soon gets even busier!
I don't usually read historical sagas, finding them twee and predictable, and aimed at an older audience, but this I thoroughly enjoyed. Although there was nothing particularly 'new' about the storyline, it read really easily, and I really cared about the characters.
This book may have convinced me to try more saga books in the future
