This is a pretty interesting novel that is very descriptive... I would recommend to anyone... If you like a good family saga set in world war 2 you will love this book. ..
The narrative begins just before World War II... and concludes in May 1950... It revolves around a young girl named Cora... who we first see in a hospital where she is handed a gingerbread man by her mother... who is unable to visit her since Cora has been seriously ill...Cora adores this present and has no idea that this is the final time she would see her mother...As the novel progresses.. Cora and her younger sister Dede are raised by her mother's best friend Eliza, who loves them as if they were her own kids...They have friends in the Norfolk countryside, so over the years, another group of excellent pals keeps an eye out for Cora...
