The first impression sets out the scene, the main characters and potentially the driving force behind how the book plays out. We still have little idea as to what will happen going forward but the first impression has been written well enough to keep us captivated. I find this extract very intriguing and I would be interested to see what Iris will do going forward. She suffers from sibling rivalry, from jealousy and a drive to sort her ruined life out. This is a good well written and entertaining extract. The front cover looks like it suits the genre and it's pleasing to the eye. The caption on the front cover is also intriguing enough to make someone look in side the book.
