Well, what a thrilling ride! This is a glossy, melodramatic, 80s-excess story with twists and turns galore. I was hooked from the first few pages and wasn't let go until the very last few words. Just as everyone that is introduced through the journey is lied to and deceived at some point, so were the readers - is the narrator wholly reliable? if not, who from the other characters should we put our faith in?
The story centres around a pair of identical twins and a controlling fathers instructions in his will as to how his fortune should be bequeathed that tears apart what was already a dysfunctional extended and sprawling family. All of these people are privileged and not very likeable - I love books with no obvious 'goodie' as they keep you switching your allegiances as you learn more.
Yes, it's massively over the top with hints of 'Dynasty' but it's so much fun and a really well written story.
