From the first impression I was already invested in Iris and Summer but the first part of the book set the scene really well. I can completely see why Iris is the way she is as she didn't have the best upbringing. Iris has always been jealous of her twin sister Summer who always seems to have everything go her way. Summer was the expected child whereas Iris was a surprise and was named after flowers that their mother received as a second thought.

Their dad who went from woman to woman has not been a good role model, in particular teaching Iris that "there's not enough for two. There’s only one life that we have to share." Even when her dad passes away he fuels unhealthy competition as he stated in his will that he would give his inheritance to the first of his seven children to marry and produce a baby. It's now a race for Iris to get the inheritance!

The second third of the book saw Iris finding herself alone in the middle of the Indian Ocean where it was her chance to take what she's always wanted. This part of the book felt a bit slow in my opinion but it was definitely worth sticking with.

As the final third of the book had me on the edge of my seat, I did not expect it at all! I thought I had gotten over what I thought was the final twist but no, there comes another! I had to read the last sentence twice to get my head round it. It was such a good ending!
