I'm a big fan of this genre but I didn't enjoy this first impression. I loved the cover and the synopsis but the extract felt far too American for my liking. The main character, Ambrosia, came across as very self-absorbed and as a result, I found the first-person narrative rather tedious. The extract also felt more suited to teenagers/young adults than older adults.
