I felt sorry for Ambrosia from the start of the story. She is an obvious misfit trying to fit in. Because of this she gets drawn in to an almost dare scenario with another girl who behaves outrageously for kicks. Something bad happens that is hinted at and haunts her years later. Cleverly written.
