The Girls Are All So Nice Here (1st April 2021 UK release) provides us with a mesmerizing narrative on toxic friendships, betrayal and revenge. This novel is a brilliantly written thriller which will have you turning the pages until you reach the very end of this twisted tale. We meet Amb (Ambrosia) Wellington, a young woman who hides a secret from her past. Amb thinks she's left it all behind and she thinks she's gotten away with it. But from the moment Amb receives contact from her college about a reunion, Amb's secret threatens to be revealed.

The Girls Are All So Nice Here covers many dark themes, bullying, manipulation, obsession, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and toxic friendships. The novel shows just what these deadly mean girls at college are capable of doing. We are given the unique pleasure of actually hearing about the tale from the perspective of one of the mean girls. That's right, our main character Amb is no angel. I enjoyed reading the story from Amb's perspective as it had me questioning all along whether I should root for her or not. Throughout the story the author has portrayed this anti-heroine very well. The story also covers the experience of Sully and Flora. These are three very different girls, all portrayed very well for their purpose. The fates of these three girls are tragically entwined the moment they all started living in, what later became known as, Dorm Doom. Throughout the novel we are constantly left asking, what exactly happened in Dorm Doom... and most importantly, why?

I also enjoyed the captivating writing style, where the author steadily strings the reader along with just enough information that makes us readers want to keep turning those pages. The author has also written the novel with chapters reverting between "now" and "then". So whilst we are taken on a journey with Ambrosia now, we also learn snippets of what actually happened in the past. I feel like the author pulled this off perfectly and it suitably added to the suspense and the mystery. The story flows effortlessly and keeps a consistent pace which I felt was suitable.

Overall, The Girls Are All So Nice Here, is a thrilling page-turner that continually keeps the reader guessing. Elizabeth Laurie Flynn delivers exactly what I expect from a good thriller and I'm keen to read more from this author in the future. I would recommend to all thriller lovers, and to those looking to get into thrillers as this will one will have you hooked.
