There's something about school/college reunion themed books that I always seem to enjoy so I was really intrigued about this one. This one in particular is set in two different time periods - the past and the present day. The main character Ambrosia (better known as Amb) starts a prestigious college and she's desperate to fit in with the privileged 'nice' girls. However, she soon forms a very toxic friendship with another girl, Sully. We soon find out just how far Amb is willing to go to impress her new friend. In the present day we see the girls reunite at their college reunion and of course, many secrets are exposed.
I was really gripped by this story from the beginning. I have to admit, the main characters are very unlikeable but I think that was the whole point. They really are mean girls to the absolute extreme! It is sad to see just how desperate some people are to fit in with people they don't even like. There are some very heavy topics covered in this book so there are trigger warnings for suicide, rape, bullying, drug use etc. It may not be for everyone due to these subjects but I thought it was a fascinating read and could actually see this being a young adult drama. I think I'd definitely look out for books by the same author as I found this such a good read.
