The girls are all so nice here is a story about female friendships and how far people are willing to go to get what they want.
The main character, Ambrosia goes to college where she rooms with Flora and then, later on, meets Sully. Ambrosia is determined to not be a shadow of herself like she was back in high school, she's told herself she'll keep up with the popular girls and come into the light.
The writing was beautiful, it never missed. The alternating chapters between 'then' and 'now' really helped tie the story together and made the many plot twists even more shocking.
At the start i seemed to sympathise with Ambrosia, she was just an insecure girl who was trying to fit in, a struggle a lot of us has gone through, however as the story progressed i felt a lot of dislike towards the main character, and narrator, of the novel. This is what i believe separates a good author from a great one, their way of presenting their main characters. Instead of going the traditional route and using the main character tell a story of hurt and being a victim she turned a very likable main character into one that I'm sure a lot of people who have read this have hate for. I definitely would recommend this book and rate it a 5/5 stars.
I do want to place a trigger warning however, for r*pe, s*icide and self harm as these subjects do get mentioned quite intensely.
