Great psychological thriller where you're never quite sure you're getting the full story from the narrator about the circumstances leading up to a devasting event at a US college and the gathering together of those involved at a 10 year reunion.
This is an accomplished debut, not without its faults, including some clunky phrasing ("He wanted me in a different way....He wanted me behind bars" in particular really hit me as a clumsily written way to make the point very unsubtly) but the ending is great - you might figure out who's 'dunnit' but it still hits in the final chapter just how far-reaching the plan behind it all goes.
There's a great sense of impending doom building from the beginning, as details of what exactly happened unfold, and there's some great atmosphere building. A great debut.
