This was a great read. Two stories, one from the past and one playing out now, combined into a deadly telling of the lengths people will go to to maintain the facade of the life they want people to think they are living.
No-one comes out of this looking good and none of the characters are likeable but that’s what I found so compelling about it - everyone has the capacity to unleash their ugly side given the right circumstances...real or perceived.
There is a fairly standard whodunnit running through the book, and it may be too easy to figure out the perpetrator but I didn’t feel that this was the main element of the story. What was more interesting to read was the toxic way the girls interacted; it was like they were suffering from folie á deux, unearthing and activating the worst in each other when they spent time together.
This is a genre (toxic female relationships) that is being done a lot at the moment but this is an excellent example of it that will stay with you
