I have read a few books about toxic female friendships and I have a feeling this one is on steroids. I find Ambrosia to be a really unlikable narrator, which is not a reason to dislike the book of course - there may be some character development. In the chapters set during college, she is desperate to fit in and to do so copies the girls around her. Yet her roommate Flora seems to be well liked, friendly and genuine and still Amb doesn’t like her. Her character in the now chapters is just as unlikable, constantly complaining about her boyfriend. She also seems to be a compulsive liar? I have a feeling Flora is not as 2D and dull of a character is amb portrays her to be, so I am interested to see how their relationship develops (if it does). The rich, mean girls at boarding school plot is overdone in my opinion. But the hint of a death or incident, makes me think it will be more of a thriller hopefully. First impressions, I’m on the fence but still willing to give it a go.
