I was SO VERY intrigued by the plot synopsis as I am a CRAZY football fan and love watching sports period whether it be football or fencing. This book sounded right up my alley; a light, warm-hearted rom-com about sporting manics. I was SO right. This book is structured exactly like a romantic comedy and could easily be made into a film. Anyone surrounded by football will be sure to like this book even though, because I am such a fan myself, I couldn't imagine being 'dragged' to sporting matches and could totally understand when the protagonist's partner would groan and sulk after his team lost or if he missed a game on TV (and the protagonist found this astonishing and unreasonable - which I found quite funny).

I regret to say, though, that after the first 100 pages or so I was adamant that the book was too light and fluffy for me and that chick-lit might be another genre that was slowly dripping away like many genres that no longer suit my reading tastes anymore. Luckily, I was wrong. Anna Bell's (I love how her first and last name when said together is a first name. SO COOL!) characters in The Good Girlfriend's Guide to Getting Even just follow you around from behind, with you, the reader, completely oblivious to how much of an effect they are having on you. I personally never thought I would care an ounce for any of the characters but then something hit me and all of a sudden they were right in front of me, closer than I thought and I was SO invested.

Also, after the synopsis, discussing how the partner of a sports-manic exacts revenge for his obsession, I did not believe this book to be as romantic as it is and it was a wonderful surprise.

I had a problem with the pacing... But now I'm not so sure, the first 100 pages were slower but now that I think of it this might have been just the effect of introducing readers to new characters and fleshing them out a bit. Though, many books have had me captivated the entire time. Anyway, I feel like for such light a story 50 pages could have been shaved off to speed things along. To sum up with,i would recommend it
