What an emotional book.

The Good Luck Girls focuses on a group of five girls who had been sold as sex slaves to a brothel at young ages. After Clementine kills her first client by accident, her sister Aster decides she needs to go on the run and they don't go along.

Aster was a tough character to know how I felt about. At times I liked her and at others I didn't but I respect how she needed to be there for her sister and protect others. She's a good person who has been forced into tough circumstances and that's interesting. Also I was getting total gay vibes off of her and Violet. There is actually a canon gay ship but its between two of the girls you don't see much of. But they're sweet and I liked them. I just don't think they're the only WLW in the book...

The world in this book is rich but I kind of don't feel like I learned much about it. It was interesting and there feels like so much we could know but the book barely touched the surface. Still it is a first book so I'll forgive it and hope for more world building in the second.

I enjoyed the book and I do plan on reading the second but it could get a bit hard to read at times. It's nothing wrong with the book itself, it just felt a little slow at times but I wound up staying up till midnight on a work night to finish it so it clearly has parts you can't put down.

I've got mixed feelings basically but I would recommend it for sure. Just be prepared to feel and think a LOT.
