In this fantasy world, children are sold to welcome houses and branded. When turning 16, they essentially become sex workers. Aster’s little sister (clementine) is about to have her first ‘Lucky Night’. On this night, clementine kills the man who has bought her. We follow a group of good luck girls as they escape the house and try to find a safe place to survive.

The blurb basically inflated everything the world building, there is a bit of magic but it’s not very in-depth, the magic system isn’t explained fully. As far as the storyline goes, it’s quite repetitive, and I don’t feel like an awful lot happened. It would probably be a good start for someone who wanted to dip their toes in the fantasy world, and if it wasn’t for the sex trafficking I would probably suggest it for early teens. The characters are likeable, but again, not much substance. There are some darker themes and backstories with the characters but I almost feel like these were thrown into the story.
