The concept of this book was absolutely incredible! When Clemintine comes of age at 16, she must entertain a brag (a male customer) for part of the lucky night ceremony. However, she accidentally ends up killing him and, knowing that she will end up punished by the raveners, she has to go on the run with her sister and other good luck girls. I won’t say anything else to spoil the rest of the book however it’s absolutely worth the read and is just perfect.
It has everything you could want from a book, including a diverse range of characters including many races and sexualities, as well as a story about many girls finding freedom and joining forces to stand against the evil and powerful. The author also talks about many darker themes, in a way which allows us as readers to also question both the world they live and our own.
Overall it’s a brilliant read and i recommend :)
