Just like the cover, this story is stunning. I adored the writing style and overall plot arches. You truly felt that you were taken into this world where "dustbloods" (those without shadows) have limited rights, sold and branded at the whim of others.
This story did not pan out exactly how I expected and I loved that! It did not feel at all predictable and although some of the characters annoyed me in their mannerisms, this also made it feel a little more realistic. Aster's protective nature over Clementine can feel a little overwhelming at times and one of the romantic aspects didn't feel fantastically built up but this may be due to the prospective the story was written from.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns, the heist aspects, the supernatural influences and the drive of the characters in reaching their goal.
