I think my main problem with the book was the main character, Aster. I didn't find her likeable at all and so didn't warm to the story. She just seemed a bit selfish and stand offish and didn't seem like she wanted anyone else to be happy, especially her sister. She did have a slight redemption at the end of the story, but I think by then it was too late for me. The rest of the characters I really liked and the plot of the book was actually very interesting and unique. I enjoyed the magic aspect of the story and the adventures the characters had to go on. I'm not sure if I would read the next book in the series as the character did put me off, but I might have to pick it up just to see what happens next.
