Wow what a good book ! This book is simultaneously so cliche and unique, and it’s really heartwarming. The setting of the Old West is really unique, and the author does a good job of developing it and giving the book that dusty, worn-down feel. I like that ghosts and magic were incorporated into it, but the story still feels realistic at the end of the day. It feels kind of like the inverse of magical realism.
The setting and plot were really well done. I really enjoyed that the world-building in this book happened simultaneously to the plot, it didn’t feel like the first half of the book was devoted to exposition as is the case in many fantasies. The plot is an adventure, but serves to expose the intricacies of the society that the Good Luck Girls are working to improve.
I absolutely adored the characters and can't wait to read more about them !
