Tattoo shackles in the Wild West
The premise of the book is haunting; a realistic portrayal of young girls sold into brothels, but convinced to perform well as it is a better life than on the streets.
An unrealistic aspect of magic flower tattoos that grow with each girl and is essentially a shackle to their brothel owner and forces them to have it on display, lest it start burning and glowing.
The novel is set in a Wild West type country; old fashioned, men in charge, and with horrible shadow creatures that try and eat you.
The group of girls are a fun cast of characters, each with their own personalities and certainly not without their flaws.
This is a believable and mostly likeable set of characters, creating a fun, quick-paced book that is easy to read over the course of a few hours. While the ending felt slightly rushed, it is also a nice thing not to know everything about the character’s futures as it leaves an air of imagination. I still enjoyed mostly where the characters all ended up. The main lead especially felt like she had ended up somewhere that fit her character arc.
