I never thought of myself as a romance reader, which is strange as I love watching rom-coms. It never occurred to me, until earlier this year, to actually dive in head first and see if the metaphorical glass slipper actually fit. I made a romance reading vlog for my youtube channel, in which I read Helen Hoang's The Kiss Quotient, among others, and I found myself transfixed. So, it's no surprise that Hoang's next release, with a main character sharing my name (Anna), is high up on my TBR and I failed to suppress my sharp intake of breath when I saw it listed on ReadersFirst.

Upon reading the blurb and the First Impression, it appears that the similarities between Anna and I do deeper than just our first names. I recently graduated from film school into a pandemic, which was... unfortunate to say the least. Over the last year I've grappled with what it means to be a creative and how to create boundaries and make that lifestyle a healthy and happy one - struggles that our fictional Anna is also facing after her viral success. I love that the opening chapter sees Anna going to therapy, as we often just expect ourselves to handle these things on our own - I know I am very guilty of just expecting myself to 'muddle through' when there are people in place to help. Ultimately, the cover is gorgeous, the prose addictive, the main character almost uncomfortably relatable... I can't wait to read the rest of this book!
