I am not a big reader of the romance genre, so I wasn't sure how I was going to gel with this type of story. Is it going in my top reads of the year? No, but it was a quick read that packed a surprisingly emotional punch on many levels.

Positives:
I thought Anna and Quan's relationship was beautifully developed. They are flawed, real people who have insecurities and want to be loved.

Anna's complicated relationship with her family was realistic and showed how the expectations and judgements of those closest to us can often be a contributing factor to a deterioration in our mental health. I thought this was handled in a really interesting way.

Negatives:
I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style and it struck me as a little too simple and staccato in some places. I found the first forty or so pages hard to connect with because it felt really disjointed.
