The Heart Principle really punched me in the chest. It was so raw and personal, yet utterly lovely when it came to Anna and Quan’s relationship.
I felt like my heart broke multiple times reading this book — for Anna and her diagnosis, for her mental and internal struggles regarding masking and always doing or saying what people want/expect rather than being able to be herself and admit when she needed help, only to then not be believed or mocked when she did — especially by family.
I wanted to rage with her.
I wanted them to understand.
I wanted them to help her.
But Quan. Oh, Quan, how you have a tiny piece of my heart! He was the rock she didn’t know she needed. He understood her when no one else did. He supported her when no one else did. And he was there for her when she needed comfort the most.
I adore him.
I just love Helen Hoang’s books. Give me all of them.
