To be honest, I wouldn't pick up this book because it looks like fantasy (a genre I'm not too keen on!) However I was pleasantly surprised this was actually historical fiction.
The plot seems very original with a vast range of characters. I enjoyed the writing style, and the fact it was equal parts description and dialogue. I also like that it's set in old London and includes familiar landmarks to help the reader really picture the scene.
However, on this occasion I don't think it peaked my interest enough to invest reading the next 400 or so pages.
