I am not a fan of historical novels but I can see that this is a well written tale of the Elizabethan court. The descriptions are vivid including both sights and smells, which help to evoke the scene.
Nicholas Winter is clearly in trouble and with plotters all around him, needs to escape from the charges of treason.
