I have read the first three books in the Nicholas Shelby series, and not one of them disappointed me. The Heretics Mark, to me fell short on story and intensity that the other books gave me. To much on the Elizabethan religious believes that made it a difficult story to follow. This book I found hard to pick up and rear where as the others in the series I could not wait to read on at every moment I could.
The character Hella is a strange and strong religious women who joins Nicholas and his wife Bianca, while they flee for their lives. With agents of the crown on their trail they make for Bianca,s home town of Padua in Italy. It is there that they become entangled in a radical and dangerous scheme to shatter the old worlds limits of knowledge.
I must say that I stuck with the story but in my opinion it not S W Perry,s best. Though I will say that it has not put me off of reading more of S W Perry.
