Set in both London and Europe, mainly Padua, in 1594, this book centres on 2 couples. Both start off in London and one couple remains there and one has to flee due to the tyrannical laws regarding religion and absolutely no free speech at that time. The two couples are almost opposite ends of the scales but are a family unit, through trials and tribulations.
This book is the 4th book of the series but I did not feel that I missed out at all on any of the story as I have not read any of the other 3. I will be catching up with the other books though, as I really enjoyed the characters.
With famous people like Galileo thrown in, you can see the characters in your mind. I savoured every word as the descriptions of the areas, whether it be London or France/Italy, were totally enthralling.
Fantastic pace all throughout and the plot was believable, no massive jumps of reality. Definitely recommend
