I really enjoyed reading the first look for this book. aside from the genius structure with the prologue, i think its written in a beautiful style - a range of language, easy-to-read but gripping. written in the present tense, i felt immersed in the world of 16th century london - the politics full of lies, emotions riding high... punishment and gory torture, the whole shabang.

Nicholas shelby, i found, was a profoundly interesting character. i also loved how (and this is VERY important to me!) the font and decorations on the pages reflected on gothic and dark nature of the book.

It was also very interesting to gain context on the prologue immediately after reading it - i don't know if that makes sense. In the games of thrones books . , for example, the prologue often leaves the reader feeling confused and you don't find out what was really going on until much later in the book.

anyways -loved it!
