It was an alright book....
The novel starts in London in 1594 and Nicholas Shelby has just been accused of treason and attempting to poison the Queen. He runs with his wife Bianca and they run away to Padua. It wasn't that interesting and the plot was kinda repetitive and boring.

While travelling Nicholas overhears and sees the final moments of a terrible murder. At the scene is a terrified maiden called Hella Maas. Could've done with some steamy romance, was a drag to read and almost didn't finish it.

This woman, she is incredibly religious and keeps spouting prophecies about both Bianca and Nicholas. They are scared of her, but her portrayal was boring and I did not like her.

Scared of their new travelling companion they start to wonder just who they rescued... But it is a predictable plot and would not recommend it to many out there, unless you are predictable yourself.
