Not having read any of S. W. Perry's books before, I was pleasantly surprised
when I won a copy after entering my initial review of the First Impression.
As I have got older I have found the historical novels more interesting than some of the more modern ones. I like the plot and was kept immersed in the story from start to finish. As always it is best not to take everything at face value especially with the twist that comes right at the very end.
The blend of characters was just great and it definitely felt that the intrigue that occurred during Elizabethan times was well described and believable. Particularly the desperate times depending which Religion you chose. This was a period of History that I studied at school for my O Levels back in the 1960's.
From my experience with reading this book I will be looking to borrow the earlier novels starting with book 1, "The Angel's Mark".
