I really struggled with this one. It may have been because this I believe is part of a series of books I don’t know. I found it slow to start and get into the characters. I also found the text quite hard to get into a reading flow with it and found myself that I was picking it up and putting it down far more often than i would have liked or wanted to.
Bianca was an interesting character definitely unusual in profession and outspoken behaviour and actions. I was surprised she left her apocathary business to support Nicholas as he ventured into exile. Den Bosch and the murders were complicated and Hella Mas was random from the start. I didn’t feel there was enough description at the start of the story surrounding the queen and Lopez which can often be annoying in modern stories but I feel is needed when looking back historically. Overall this one wasn’t for me.
