What an impressive debut novel! From the powerful opening chapter describing the horrific 'playground murder' in the 1960s through the eyes of its' schoolboy perpetrator, to the intrigue and mystery of why Ellen, a recently divorced mother, is being summoned to a solicitors office in the Cotswolds in 2008 as she's been named in a will of a woman she's never heard of to inherit a Cotswold cottage worth £750,000.

Really enjoyed the way the story was told backwards and forwards between then and now through the eyes of different characters and there were so many twists and turns that I was left guessing right until the end. That's why i couldnt put the book down once I'd started reading!

At some points it was a little confusing with the names and characters as some people weren't who they seemed but it didn't distract from the compelling plot and it was all cleverly written and extremely intriguing as you joined Ellen on her quest to try and find out who this woman - Eudora Nash - actually was and why she'd been chosen as the benefactor of the will.

highly recommended!!
