I really enjoyed the opening of this book. It’s relatable, standard family car journey on the way to their holiday destination but something’s off. Reaching their holiday home (or should I say mansion) and getting that text things begin to feel very sinister and tense and you’re pulled in by who is it? The book cover gives you that sinister feeling too with its massive pool and sunshine but no-one around, it’s incongruous and unnerving.
