I'm not impressed with the cover, the out-of-focus title is unsettling and I can't make any sense of the background. The dominant image of a glass next to a swimming pool speaks of unsafe behaviour and the spilt wine provides a rationale for this.

But the novel itself immediately pulls the reader in to a hopefully intriguing plot of lies, deception and secrets. The writing is masterful, introducing the setting and characters in the very natural scenario of an arrival and from the viewpoint of just one of the people involved. Memories and musings offer background to many of the others in what we already know will be a small isolated group for just one week.

I'm keen to read on and expect to thoroughly enjoy this novel.
