To be honest, I was already hooked from the descripyion on the cover, but reading the first few chapters, I was surprised how emotionally involved I got so quickly, especially the contrast between the intense moments as she tries to work out what is going on, and the humour of dad jokes and highly relatable teenage responses like ‘Cool,’ she said, turning to me. ‘Have you got the Wi-Fi password?’ in response to seeing the incredible views from the accommodation. I've not read his previous books but feel he is definitely an author I'd like to follow
