I found myself struggling initially to buy into this story largely I think due to the need to grasp all the characters first and how they linked to each other. A consequence of this was that it was not until almost the mid-point of the book that it grabbed me and kept me reading to the end. There are a lot of characters and Kate, the main character, is going through a troubling week thinking that her husband is having an affair with one of her three best friends. Consequently this is the focus of the book in initially but soon there is a lot more going on that leads to a horrific and unsuspected ending.
I did enjoy this book but probably not as much as the author’s previous book 29 Seconds. That may just be me or the fact that this one involves many more characters and switches between the present and the past. That said the story holds together well and the tension and excitement build up to the final all consuming chapters.
