From the book cover I was expecting a death or two and emotions running high trying to work out which of her closest friends know more than they are saying. What we got was a long, meandering, and ultimately, annoying tale about a bunch of unlikeable adults, a central story that was obviously not what it seemed, and no hint of death until after page 400 which was largely resolved 20 pages later and tied up completely within 50.

Had the book description been different, and thus my expectations, this would have been more enjoyable. The writer was far more convincing when writing about the children who felt more real and relatable. I simply did not care enough about any of the adults, and in particular the main character, for this story to hold my interest.
