I love coming across new psychological thrillers , so I jumped at the chance to receive a copy of 'The Holiday ' in exchange for a fair review.

The book explores the complexity of relationships between families, lovers and friends, and the importance of trust.

The book is based on the premise of a group 40th birthday celebration for 4 women and their families in a luxurious holiday villa. However, the narrator, Kate, soon gets a nasty shock when she realises that her husband is keeping a massive secret from her.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would rate it 3.5 stars. I looked forward to reading a few chapters every day whilst on holiday myself. However, it lost stars for me due to the plausibility of the main character (a crime scene investigator who didn't seem to be able to pick up clues quickly) and the fact that I guessed the untrustworthy person pretty much straight away. There were a few twists that I didn't expect though, and I'd happily read another book by the same author.
