This was a very interesting read! The whole concept for this story was unique and very intriguing.

We follow Kate, a mother who is about to start her Summer holiday in France with her family, her three oldest and closest friends and their families. Very early on in the story we discover that Kateโ€™s husband, Sean, is keeping secrets from his wife. There are tensions between each family in the villa and a very dark dynamic between the children on the holiday.

This story kept me guessing until the very end. Throughout the whole book the reader is given subtle clues and hints as to the truth behind the secrets in the villa, but each piece of information that is given could apply to multiple characters in the story or have various meanings and explanations, creating an addictive and mysterious reading experience!

I loved the use of short chapters in The Holiday - they definitely helped create great tension and suspense and made this story an easy read!

One negative aspect of the book is the sometimes repetitive nature it contained. I feel the same things were repeated several times in quick succession to the reader, particularly our narrator Kate saying that she wished she had confronted her husband sooner. Unfortunately, this did get quite annoying.

Overall The Holiday was a suspenseful, original thriller filled with twists and turns and definitely a brilliant Summer read! - 4 stars๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ
